What is Hallux Rigidus?

April 30th, 2010 by admin

The great toe joint is one of those many joints that we will almost always be bumping and doing damage to, therefore osteoarthritis in that joint is actually common. It is easy to drop anything on the big toe and damage the joint. Another title for that big toe is the hallux, hence in the event the osteo-arthritis has really set in and the joint isn’t going to move, it’s termed hallux rigidus. The big toe joint is really an essential joint for moving your body over the base, that if the actual joint won’t bend, it has many effects for the way we walk and jog. The footwear needs to be modified to support hallux rigidus.
